The aches and pains of neurasthenia affect many of the muscles around the body. The pain is usually worse in the neck and the upper part of the back. One more diagnostic criterion for neurasthenia include persistent and distressing symptoms of exhaustion after minor mental or physical effort accompanied by a general feeling of malaise with the combination of excitement and depression.

Neurotic depression belongs to the group of neurotic disorders which are characterized as mental disorders without any demonstrable organic basis. Neurotic depression develops in emotionally unstable people. Their psyche is deformed in such a way that in their reality testing they do not confuse their morbid subjective experiences and fantasies with the external reality.
